Today 13th March 2021; International women’s day was celebrated at Sahodaya Bethany Seva Kendra Bendur the a unit Bethany Social Service Trust ® Mangalore in collaboration with Bethany Sahodaya Mahila Federation. “Let’s all Choose to Challenge” the theme for 2021 was highlighted all through programme. The programme commenced with prayer dance by the student from St Jospeh’s HPS Kankanday.

Programme was inaugurated by lighting the diya by Sr Shanthi Priya BS General Councillor, General coordinator for Socio- medical & pastoral, Secretary of Bethany Social service Trust/ Director of Sahodaya Bethany seva Kendra. She in her inaugural speech encouraged women to take a bold step to face the challenges in life, by giving examples of very many successful women in frontline, who have made the difference in the society with courage. She called on the women to create a new history to build a transformed society.

Rev Sr Lillis BS Asst Superior General presided over the function. In her presidential speech she exhorted the women for their tremendous share in the family, society and the world to make the world a better place to live in harmony. She said God created woman & man equally. Let us respect each other and see the goodness in others.
She wished everyone the greetings of women’s day and appreciated for the collaboration of other NGOS with Sahodaya.

Resource person Mrs Priya K C the administrator in Sahki under women and child development department, from Lady Goshen in detail gave all the information and to get the help from Sakhi,in emergency situation specially for women in distress and in any problem .

The remarkable event of the program was that, five of our Bethany Sisters from Bethany convent Mother house community along with Mrs Bhagamma donated 12’ inch hair to prepare wigs for cancer patients. Ms Lenet Gonsalves programme Manager of CODP inspired everyone to come forward to donate hair and join to create awareness on ‘Campaign against Cancer’ as their Sparsha progamme of CODP ® Mangalore. Mrs Shilpa Dsouza Sparsh Coordinator was also present for the programme. Hair donors were awarded a certificate by them .

On this occasion the winners of the Sahodaya competitive exam were also awarded with cash, gift and certificate. Two students Sharnaya from Little flower HPS Kinnigoli and Mevorish from Rosa Mystica HPS kinnikamala shared their experience and gratitude to the institute.

Women were conducted game on this occasion and winners were given attractive prizes. Sr Leena D’Costa the program coordinator welcomed every one, Ms Iral Rovian Dsouza Sahodaya animator compered the programme. Mrs Sandaya Federation president proposed vote of thanks.

A meaningful skit was enacted by St Sebastian HPS Bendur. Sahodaya staff, federation members, SHG members, office bearers of DK Mahila zilla forum, staff of DEEDs, Jeevandhara, BES Mangalore, Students and teachers from St Joseph’s, St Sebastian, Rosa Mystica and Little flower Kinnigoly and Bethany sister were present. All were served sumptuous meal. There was joy and happiness shared by all.
