Role of religious in the prevention of Modern-day slavery on this topic awareness program was organized for the religious of Mangalore CRI on 9th March 2025. The program commenced with opening prayer singing the Jubilee song by the 3 congregation sisters.

 Sr Colin DHM accorded welcome to everyone. Sr Shaila BS Delegation Superior introduced Sr Shanthi Pirya Bs Assistant Superior General of Bethany Congregation the days resource person.

Sr Shanthi Priya in elaboration give input session on human trafficking its definition, types, means purpose and consequences on the lives of the human beings. She gave clarion call to all the religious quoting the   call of God , Exodus 3: 7, “I have seen the misery of my people, I have heard their cry, yes, I am well aware of their sufferings. And I have come down to rescue them …  Go … I shall be with you…

 She continued by sharing her personal experiences of working with the victims of human trafficking giving the statics if victims who trafficked across the globe, she enumerated heinous crime and its gravity in the lives of the women.  Finally posing a question to the participants way forward and everyone’s responsibility in ending the modern-day slavery - what shall we do?

The following different strategies she explained: through collaboration, inter congregational network, creating awareness on Anti human trafficking to the Schools, colleges, different group, institutional staff and stake holders.  Formation of AHT Clubs, Network with likeminded NGOs and GOs.

 Thereafter Sr Freda Ac Introduced ACP Geetha Kulkarni CCRB Mangalore.  Mrs Geetha gave in nutshell about the laws related to the crime of human trafficking and gave caution about three points to avoid getting trapped the cyber rime not take unknown video calls, not open any link and regarding financial matter to be very prudent.

 Thereafter Sr Leena D’Costa showed the video of glimpses of Amrat and gave brief introduction of Amrat and invited the member to join for the network.  3 new members have joined for Amrat Karnataka and many have given hope that will join latter and will invite as resource person to give awareness talk on AHT to the students and their parents.
